The Council consists of five elected senior
volunteers. The SSC is a liaison group
between the senior community, El Dorado
Hills CSD, and County Department of
Human (Senior) Services. The council
coordinates annual special senior parties
in addition to overseeing other Center
activities. The Council always WELCOMES
volunteers!

Classes include safe stretching and
strengthening exercises using resistance
bands, range of motion, and simple
movements. Both sitting and standing
exercises are incorporated. Benefits
include: lower blood pressure, improved
circulation, increased stamina and
muscle strength, and enhanced sense of
well being.

interest and need a partner(s) to participate
with you? If you need a bridge
or chess partner, golf buddy, a moviegoer,
a sports team member, someone

Enjoy the well-documented benefits of
yoga in these gentle, supportive classes
modified to your needs. This is not
“pretzel” yoga! Students with limitations
due to previous injuries, chronic conditions
or general inflexibility should consider
this class. Donna is on the resource
list of the National MS Society and the
Parkinson’s Association.

It is possible to strengthen your bones
by exercising and eating the right way.
Learn simple strategies to improve the
strength of your bones. A delicious
sandwich lunch will be served. Reservations

Excellent meals for a reasonable donation
of only $3 for seniors age 60 and
over, and $5 for those under 60. Lunch
is served Monday through Friday at 12
noon in the Garden Cafe. Closed on major
holidays. Call (916) 358-3562 between
11am and 1pm for the current menu.

Falls are a significant cause of injury in
all ages of the U.S. population, but a
particular burden in those ages 65 and
older. With adequate information and
knowledge falls can be prevented. Learn
tips and tricks that you can use on a
daily basis. Call the Senior Center to
hold your spot.

uses tai chi, yoga, and mild jazz moves
to keep the body moving and energized.

improved digestion and cardiovascular

Mah Jongg, “the game of the sparrows”,
is very popular today. Players get
together weekly to play this simple yet

for American Cribbage Congress

An Outing to the Placerville
Community Observatory
On a clear night you can observe up
to 250,000 stars from the Placerville
Community Observatory. On our
private tour the docent will show
you special telescopes and talk about
stars and constellations. A limited
number of guests will be transported
in CSD vehicles. Others can drive
themselves or carpool from El Dorado
Hills. Reservations are a MUST
for this free event.

The Senior Center has a theater group
which carpools and attends local productions.
The group also enjoys behindthe-
scenes tours, and Q&A discussions
with the actors. Call to be placed on
our Theater Interest List.

Computer related topics are covered
each week. Get answers to your computer
questions. Those with laptops are
encouraged to bring them. Discussion
is appropriate for all levels of computer
knowledge.

Learn to make a simple beaded necklace
that will “bead-azzle” everyone you
know! Participants will make a simple
beaded necklace in class. All supplies

The French Club meets to practice the
language, share heritage, sing songs,
enjoy French cuisine and go on outings
that feature French history.

of local senior musicians who have over
70 songs in their growing repertoire.

Even if you have no experience playing with chocolate, this class is for you. We
will have a blast dipping strawberries, as well as using molds to create chocolate
oreos and pretzels. Students will make and take a dozen berries, four oreos
and four pretzels, all in their own packaging, in case you want to share your
goods. You will also leave class with your molds and additional supplies will be
available for purchase after class. $12 supply fee payable at class. Registration

(lentil soup); matar paneer (vegetable dish); mishti dahi (sweet yogurt); chicken

to Indian spices so students will learn to not depend solely on curry powder!

We will taste and learn about fresh, antioxidant

wide assortment of plain and flavored oils

a clean bottle to fill and take home your
oil for only $1/ounce. You’ll also receive
